Cadence
Plan with your rhythm
Cadence is an energy-aware calendar concept. It reads your existing schedule, learns when you’re at your best and suggests when to do focused work, creative work, admin or nothing at all. You decide what moves.
During onboarding, users identify when their energy typically peaks and connect their existing calendar in read-only mode. Cadence then interprets the day through four work modes: Deep Focus, Creative, Admin and Rest/Recovery. When it notices a mismatch, such as demanding work during a low-energy period, it explains the issue and suggests alternatives, including short recovery breaks. Every suggestion can be accepted, adjusted or ignored.

THE PROBLEM
A free hour does not feel the same all day
Calendars show when time is available, but not whether a person has the energy the work requires. Focus can rise and fall from morning to night, so two identical gaps may offer very different potential.

THE OPPORTUNITY
Plan around readiness, not availability alone
Cadence adds an energy layer to the calendar. It learns a person’s rhythm and suggests better times for demanding work without moving anything automatically.

HOW CADENCE LEARNS YOUR RHYTHM
A personal rhythm begins with the signals already on your phone
With permission, Cadence connects to Apple Health and uses the health and activity logs already on the iPhone to begin learning how a person’s energy changes through the day. Those patterns inform a personal readiness view, so suggestions reflect more than an empty calendar.

01
Connect with permission
The person chooses which health and activity logs Cadence can use.
02
Learn the daily rhythm
Repeated patterns help Cadence understand how available energy rises and falls through the day.
03
Shape readiness
Those patterns inform a personal readiness view instead of treating every free hour as equal.

DESIGN PRINCIPLES
Three principles shaped every scheduling decision
Cadence treats energy as part of the schedule, offers guidance without taking control, and protects recovery as intentionally as focused work.

01
Energy-aware
Plan for the energy a task may require, not only the time it can occupy.
02
Suggestion-first
Recommend a better moment, explain why, and leave every change with the person.
03
Recovery-inclusive
Treat rest and reset moments as part of the plan rather than whatever time remains.

PRODUCT ONBOARDING
Three steps establish a rhythm before the day begins
The onboarding introduces the idea, connects an existing calendar, and asks when the person usually feels at their best. Together, those inputs give Cadence a starting rhythm for the schedule ahead.

01
Meet Cadence
Introduce planning around energy.

02
Sync the calendar
Bring existing commitments into view.

03
Choose a peak
Set an initial daily energy pattern.
DAILY EXPERIENCE
See your energy alongside your day
Cadence shows the daily energy curve, a focus window and the next task in one view, so a person can compare the work ahead with their available energy.

EVENT CONTEXT
See what each event asks of your energy
When a person taps an event, Cadence places its work mode and estimated energy demand on the daily curve. The combined view shows how different commitments may shape the rhythm of the day.

SUGGESTIONS
One suggestion, one clear reason
When Cadence finds a time that better matches the energy a task may require, it suggests that time and explains why. The person can accept it, explore other options, or leave the schedule unchanged.

SMART ADD
Add the task. Let energy guide the timing
A person adds a task, chooses the mode that best describes the work, and sets its duration. Cadence compares that context with the person’s daily rhythm and suggests a suitable time, while leaving the final placement to them.

RECOVERY
Rest is part of the plan
Cadence can suggest an optional short recovery block between tasks and show it directly within the day. This makes recovery part of the plan.
